Prof. Miriam Meckel Professor of Communication Management

Prof. Dr. Miriam Meckel is a communication scientist, professor of communication management at the University of St. Gallen and one of the most prominent voices in the German-speaking world on issues of digitalisation, media change and leadership. She combines scientific research with practical experience in business, politics and media.

In her work, she analyses how digital technologies are changing communication, organisations and decision-making processes. Her focus is on topics such as strategic corporate communication, artificial intelligence, platform economics and the interaction between humans and technology in modern working environments. She regularly publishes her findings in specialist books, essays and articles for international media.

As founder of the tech and innovation academy ada Learning, Miriam Meckel develops educational formats for executives and organisations that want to actively shape digital transformation. Previously, she was editor-in-chief of WirtschaftsWoche and State Secretary for Media in North Rhine-Westphalia, among other positions, which further shaped her interdisciplinary perspective.
In 2026, Miriam Meckel is a recipient of the prestigious Thomas Mann Fellowship from the British Foreign Office at the Thomas Mann House in Los Angeles. The fellowship is awarded to internationally recognised figures who address key social issues of the future at the intersection of democracy, technology and culture.
